How to Get to the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering

The conference will take place at the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM), located in the Science Park Leipzig in the north-east of the city.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ).

From the airport the S5/S5X suburban trains run from Leipzig/Halle Airport to Leipzig Central Station (Leipzig Hauptbahnhof) approximately every 30 minutes. From the central station, continue by tram as described below.

Alternatively, a taxi from Leipzig/Halle Airport will take you directly to the institute or your accommodation in Leipzig.

By Train

Leipzig is well connected to the German and European railway network by InterCity (IC) and InterCity-Express (ICE) services.

From Leipzig Central Station, take tram line 3 towards Taucha or Sommerfeld. Get off at “Permoser-/Torgauer Straße”. The journey takes approximately 12 minutes.

After getting off the tram, cross Torgauer Straße and walk along Permoserstraße. The entrance to the Science Park is approximately a five-minute walk away. Please register with the gatekeeper at the entrance, where you will receive directions to the venue.

Alternatively, bus line 90 provides a convenient connection to the area around the IOM. Please check the current timetable and route information. For public transport connections within Leipzig, tickets can be purchased via the local public transport network LVB.

By Car

The IOM is located in the Science Park Leipzig and can be easily reached via the A14 highway.

• From the A14, take exit Leipzig-Ost (Exit 26) and follow the signs towards Leipzig Zentrum (City Centre) via Permoserstraße.
• Alternatively, take the Leipzig-Nordost exit and continue towards Leipzig via B87 and Torgauer Straße.

The main entrance to the Science Park is on Permoserstraße. Please register with the gatekeeper at the entrance, where you will receive directions to the venue and suitable parking slots.
